My Future: My LIfe

High school years
can be an interesting mix of excitement,
opportunity and uncertainty for students.

With so much happening during these years, it can be difficult for students to identify and articulate what they want to do after they leave school.

Your role as a teacher is crucial in supporting students and often their families to navigate a path through all this potential confusion to work out who they are and what they want from life as a young adult. You know only too well that the transition from school to young adult life is smoothest for students who are clear about what they want and have begun planning early about how to achieve it.

My Future: My Life can support you to help your students prepare and plan for life after school by:

Facilitating workshops for you and their parents which are designed to help identify your students’ strengths and interests and use these to plan their journey from high school to the adult life they imagine. We will help you understand the disability funding landscape including exploring the eight NDIS life domains and how these can assist students to plan.

Working directly with your students and their family to help them think about what might be possible when their focus is on what they can do.  We will encourage and support them to capture their dreams so these can guide their final years at school and facilitate a smooth transition into life after school. We will assist students and families to better understand and navigate informal and funded disability support options e.g. My Future My Life and the NDIS.

Making funding available to your students in their final years at school to purchase resources they need to start putting their plans for life after school into action.
